Education Innovation: Measuring Student Satisfaction and Teacher Empowerment

Chamorro-Atalaya et al. (2024) measured student satisfaction with hybrid learning methods. They used a quantitative approach by collecting data from Twitter (now better known as X). Their study showed that student satisfaction in the first week of the hybrid class reached 96.3%, but the dissatisfaction rate increased to 29.17% in the evaluation week. The transition from virtual learning to hybrid learning caused student dissatisfaction as they had to adapt to the new format.
Simanjuntak et al. (2024) conducted research on the Tut Wuri Handayani supervision model. The model is an approach that aims to improve teacher competence and effectiveness. The model emphasizes supportive and empowering supervision and helps teachers develop their skills and improve their teaching practices. The Tut Wuri Handayani model has several distinctive features, one of which is the focus on supportive supervision. It encourages teachers to grow professionally through guidance and support rather than evaluation. It also aims to empower teachers by involving them in decision-making regarding their professional development. It also covers various aspects of teacher competencies, including pedagogical skills, commitment, and personal values.
An R&D study using the Borg and Gall model demonstrated the effectiveness of the Tut Wuri Handayani supervision model. Evaluations by design experts showed outstanding feasibility and quality ratings, with an average ideal percentage of 86.2%. Content design experts also provided a 76.64% rating, reflecting a strong assessment of service and feasibility. The Tut Wuri Handayani supervision model has also been subjected to statistical validation. A randomized t-test concluded that the model is valid and useful in improving teacher competence and effectiveness. The results of this study indicate that this supervision model is a reliable and effective approach to improving education quality through teacher empowerment. In order to produce quality teachers, the Tut Wuri Handayani supervision model can be used as a guideline and reference for educational institutions. By involving and empowering teachers, this model can create a positive and productive learning environment. In addition, through a supportive approach, teachers can continue to develop professionally and provide effective teaching to students.
This article demonstrates the importance of innovative approaches in improving the quality of education, both on the student and teacher side. Analysis of social media data reveals that student satisfaction with hybrid learning is dynamic, with adaptation to new formats being a key challenge. On the other hand, the Tut Wuri Handayani supervision model has proven effective in improving teachers’ competence and professionalism through a supportive and empowering approach. The findings emphasize the need for synergy between technology, student feedback, and teacher empowerment to create a more adaptive, productive, and sustainable learning environment. This approach can serve as a guideline for educational institutions facing the challenges of the modern learning era.
