[IJ-ICT] Dr. Angela Amphawan

Dr. Angela Amphawan
Senior Lecturer, School of Computing, Universiti Utara Malaysia, Malaysia
SCOPUS ID : 35730929200

Dr. Angela Amphawan received her B.Eng. (Hons.) degree in Electronics Engineering majoring in Telecommunications and M.Eng.Sc. Degree in Mobile Communications Engineering from Multimedia University, Selangor, Malaysia.  She later received her Ph.D. degree from the Department of Engineering Science, University of Oxford, United Kingdom. Currently, she is Head of Optical Technology, School of Computing Universiti Utara Malaysia.

In her doctoral research, she experimentally increased the bandwidth of a multimode fiber by up to 3.4 times by developing the first  holographic selective launch using a binary amplitude spatial light modulator and mathematically analyzed the modal decomposition from the output.  The Optical Technology Research Group currently has about 20 researchers and collaborators.  The slideshow below presents some of the group’s current research areas and related papers.

Research Interest:
Optical fiber communications, optical wireless communications, optical waveguides, bandwidth enhancement techniques, selective launches, offset launch,  wavelength division multiplexing (WDM),  Fiber to the Home (FTTH),  space-time coding, dynamic cell sizing, power control, load balancing, optofluids, optical computing
